‘I have now had two excellent holidays with Mark and Fran at Journey Begins. The first being a cycling holiday that was a fully supported trip. Mark’s local knowledge and expertise allowed me to experience many more climbs and experiences than I would have done elsewhere. Mark and Fran also arranged additional activities for me making the whole experience effortless (apart from the climbs) and left me to enjoy the holiday. On the back of a brilliant cycling trip I reached out to Journey Begins to arrange our annual boys skiing trip. They did this again exceeding our expectations in terms of location, accommodation standard and support throughout the holiday. Considering we had 13 of us this was a challenge which Mark and Fran met fantastically. I cannot recommend Journey Begins enough and as such already looking at next years ski and hopefully another cycling holiday.

One of our amazing events this year was to organise a ski holiday for the children of Ellen Tinkham Special School in Exeter. Eight lucky children came along with four of their teachers to experience some high mountain winter adventure. They took part in tandem skiing, sledging, luge rides and even had lunch inside the famous Mer de Glace glacier in Chamonix Mont Blanc. Pam, one of the teachers, told us:

‘This was the holiday of lifetime for these children who will probably never get the chance to experience anything like it again. Journey Begins organised the holiday event for us and kept the costs very low to ensure that our families could afford to send their children. They could not do enough for us and the standard of chalet accommodation they provided was exceptional. It was fully catered and they took into account all of the children’s dietary needs – even changing the menu to suit everyone’s tastes. The activities were amazing and Journey Begins made sure they took GoPro video footage of all the children so that their families could see what their children had done during the week. Our children are all severely learning disabled and Mark, Nicky and Fran were fantastic at making sure the needs of the whole group were met. Mark was a real hit with everyone, a fantastic host and the children really trusted him – especially during the skiing. We hope to take some more children skiing again next year and will definitely be using Journey Begins to organise the event – we cannot thank them enough for this amazing week.’

Another event we were delighted to be involved in was for the Charity cycle ride ‘Le Cure de France.’ Last September 30 cyclists came to the Alps to cycle some of the most famous Alpine climbs, including the Col d’Izoard and Alp d’Huez. We provided van support and catering for the event. They were so satisfied with our services that they have booked us to do it all again for them this year – with the added role of providing accommodation along with van support and catering. The success from last year means that this September they will have 80 cyclists completing the event that raises funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

‘Journey Begins provided the van support and catering for our charity ride in 2014 and we were so happy with their service that we have asked them to organise everything for us this year, including the accommodation. We are very much looking forward to this years event which is bigger and better than ever before.’
