Le Cure de France

The countdown has started and after months of planning and hard work we cannot wait to welcome 'Le Cure de France' back to the Alps to start their epic ride. The bikes are on the way and the 'curistas' will be joining them on Tuesday to start their gruelling challenge in support of cancer research at the Royal Marsden's cancer centre. This year is going to be even bigger, with 68 riders aiming to test themselves against the most notorious cols in the French Alps.

On Wednesday 9th September they ride from Saint Jean de Maurianne to Bourg St Maurice over the Col d'Iseran. They return to Saint Jean de Maurienne on day two, but this time via the Col de la Madeleine and Lacets de Montvernier, which debued in this years Tour de France. On Friday, day three in the mountains, they will ride a 'grand boucle', over more climbs that featued in this years Tour, beginning and ending the day in Saint Jean de Maurianne. This circuit sees 3 major climbs including: La Toussuire, Col du Mollard and Col de la Croix de Fer. On stage four the challengers will leave Saint Jean de Maurienne behind them and head for an ascent of the infamous Alpe d'Huez but not until they have already tackled Col du Chaussy and Col du Glandon. For their victory 'lap' on day 5 the riders head to Bourg d'Oisans via Col de Sarenne.

In 2014 this amazing event raised over £130,000 for the Royal Marsden with 28 riders taking part. This year they hope to do even better, as 68 riders have risen to the challenge to raise as much money as possible for funding new drug therapies in the treatment of cancer. This is the second year Journey Begins have supported 'Le Cure de France' and we have been delighted to arrange 'le curistas' accommodation as well as meeting all their needs while on the ride, with full van support, catering and bike maintenance throughout each step of every stage. Helping 'Le Cure' build on their success last year has been an absolute privalege and we wish each and every rider the very best of luck this week as they do battle in the mountains.
